Tunisia, April 22 – In an effort to promote Tunisia’s North-Western region as a tourist destination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad organized a two-day promotional tour for heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Tunisia.
The tour, held on Saturday and Sunday, April 22nd and 23rd, welcomed over 43 ambassadors and their spouses representing a diverse range of countries and continents. According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, the initiative aimed to showcase the cultural, economic, and historical heritage of the region, while fostering stronger ties with the diplomatic community through a focus on economic and cultural diplomacy.
The program included visits to significant archaeological and historical sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dougga in Beja, the Sidi Boumakhlouf Site in Kef, and the Bulla Regia Archaeological Site in Jendouba. Participants were provided with insights into the region’s rich cultural heritage and its various tourism offerings.
Discussions during the tour extended beyond tourism, with diplomats expressing interest in investment opportunities related to supporting small businesses, young entrepreneurs, artisans, and local businesses. The Ministry noted that such investments could contribute to job creation and bolster regional development efforts.
Concluding the tour in Tabarka, Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar reaffirmed Tunisia’s commitment to fostering strong bilateral relationships with participating countries and others around the world. He emphasized the core principles of Tunisian diplomacy, including advocating for justice, peace, and global security, with a particular focus on supporting the Palestinian cause.
